Not everyone was pleased with the new Chanel collection in Rome last week.
Scottish designer Mati Ventrillon claims that representatives from Chanel visited her store a few months before the show and purchased items which were replicated in the show.
The show, Métiers d'Art, received rave reviews for its clothes and the beautiful set which recreated Paris in Rome.
The scottish designer has revealed her designs alongside the Chanel versions on her social media account claiming that representatives from Chanel came to her store in the summer. She sold them pieces on the 'reputation of Chanel' and was not expecting them to copy her designs.
Ventrillon is not concerned with collecting a paycheque from Chanel though. She is worried about the tradition. Her business supports a traditional trade - fair isle knitwear. "Usually craftsmen find it very difficult to put a price on their work and often their work is undervalued, when you sell your products so cheap you are reducing the value of your business and the craft.''
This wouldn't be the first time though. Chanel settled claims that it copied designs in 2012 from World Tricot and then pulled bracelets which were too close to Pamela Love's designs.
Chanel are expected to make a statement about this soon.
